Fred Raymond Fountain - 89
Of Valdosta, Georgia passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Fellowship Home at Brookside. He was born to the late Frank and Maude (Bostick) Fountain on October 11, 1935, on a farm near Bemiss, Georgia. Fred is a proud USAF veteran who dedicated years to serving his country. After completing his military tour of duty, he enjoyed spending time with his family fishing and camping at the Suwannee Campground, while working as a maintenance engineer at several businesses. He eventually retired from Georgia State Prison System as the maintenance engineering supervisor. He and his wife transitioned into a life of service once again, this time volunteering as campground hosts at numerous Georgia State Parks. Their work not only contributed to the upkeep of these public lands but also offered them the opportunity to connect with people from all walks of life while enjoying the serene beauty of Georgia's parks. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Wayne Fountain; brother, Edward Fountain Jr.; and sister-in-law, Shirley Fountain; and the mother of his children, Mavis Fountain.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Muriel O. Fountain of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Lesley Welch of Valdosta, Georgia; son, Lee Fountain of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter, Kim Garvin (Ed) of Valdosta, Georgia; sister: Dorothy Carson of Albany, Georgia; brother, Randall Fountain (Margaret) of Lake Park, Georgia; numerous grandchildren; special great granddaughter, Rianne Parsley; his brother and sister in Christ, Tom and Gwen; his church family at LifeLion Ministries; the legendary OT and her staff at Fellowship Home at Brookside; special extended family, Gwen Haney of Ardmore, Alabama, and Nancy Thompson of Sylvania, Georgia. Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 17, 2025, in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens at 1:00 pm, Tuesday, February 18, 2025, with Associate Pastor Delinda Lee officiating. Family will receive friends the day of the service, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, at the funeral home.
