Lois Spencer Tomlinson

Of Lakeland, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008 at Louis Smith Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born October 3, 1929 in Clinch County, Georgia, to the late Duncan Ocha and Rosa Ganas Tomlinson. He graduated from Clinch County High School and Perry Business College. He served in the U.S. Marines 1948 - 1951. He married Alene Hendley on March 12, 1949. He was a Letter Carrier for the U.S. Post Office and retired in 1988 after 28 years of service. He served on the Administrative Board of Unity United Methodist Church and was a member of the Lakeland Masonic Lodge #434 and Cassea Lodge #224 in Homerville. He was Methodist by faith. He is preceded in death by 2 sons, Jeffery Dale Tomlinson Dec 3, 1954 – Dec 5, 1954 and Duncan Spenser Tomlinson Nov 18, 1953 – June 14, 1999.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2008 at Unity United Methodist Church with burial following in Arabia Cemetery with Masonic Rites. He will be placed in the church one hour prior to service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, July 23, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the Unity United Methodist Church.
