Ruth D. Conine
Irma Ruth Davis Conine, 86, of Stockton, passed away early Saturday morning, January 1, 2005, at the Lakeland Villa Convalescent Center. She was born November 26, 1918, in Stockton to the late Ernest and Elizabeth Livingston Davis.
Mrs. Conine and her late husband, James O. Conine, owned and operated Conines in Stockton for 40 years. Throughout these many years operating a grocery store, she was affectionately known as Miss Ruth to her customers and friends. She and her husband were well known throughout the area for their Conines Country Sausage. She was a member of Stockton Baptist Church.
Survivors include her four children, Jimmy and Ruth Conine of Brunswick, Sandra and Carlton Allen of Lake Park, Stanley and Adrienne Conine of Little Mountain, SC, and Sylvia and Tim Ragan of Lakeland. Mrs. Conine is also survived by her grandchildren: Jed Julie Allen, Jody Christie Allen, and Angela Dirk Harrell of Valdosta; Joan Shannon Hampton of Charlotte, NC; Julie Dan Danko of Charlottesville, VA; Matthew Conine stationed at Pensacola, FL; Dusty Conine of Columbia, SC; and James Ragan and Callie Ragan of Lakeland. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Elsie Branch and Mrs. Bernice Conine of Lakeland; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 3, 2005, at 2:00 pm in the Stockton Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Frazier and Rev. Carlton Allen officiating. burial will follow in Unity Church Cemetery in Lanier County. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services.
Flowers were accepted or contributions can be made to Stockton Baptist Church or Unity Church Cemetery Fund.
