Walter Ruark Rodgers - 57 passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at his home in Citra, Florida. He was born on February 20, 1950, in Lowndes County, Georgia. He was a graduate of Lowndes High School and an avid horse lover who moved to the Ocala, Florida, area in the 1970s to work with thoroughbred horses. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Barthlow Rodgers; his mother, Florence Bonnell Rodgers; and his nephew, Ted Wayne Rodgers, Jr.
He is survived by three step-sons, Timothy Barthlow, Charlie Barthlow, and Tony Barthlow, all of Ocala, Florida; his father, William Bill R. Rodgers, Sr. of Valdosta; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ted W. Rodgers and wife Cynthia Phelps Rodgers of Galax, Virginia; Andrew Andy P. Rodgers and wife Ann Moose Rodgers of Valdosta; William R. Rusty Rodgers, Jr. and wife Donna James Rodgers of Valdosta; and Robert Alan Rodgers and wife Becky Roark Rodgers of Valdosta; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty Jean Rodgers Smith and husband Earl Daniel Smith, Jr. of Nahunta, Georgia; and Sandra Rodgers Daugherty and husband Steve A. Daugherty of Valdosta; four nephews and six nieces.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services.
