Clara Dixon Ganas

September 12, 1938 — December 18, 2024

Clara Dixon Ganas, 86, of Naylor, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at her home. She was born on September 12, 1938, in Adel, Georgia, to the late Homer Dixon and Mattie Pearl Holt Dixon.
Clara’s early years were shaped by a strong work ethic, having grown up helping her father in his grocery store. It was there she learned the value of hard work, which she carried with her throughout her life. She spent 42 years alongside her husband, Charles, and their son, Chuck, owning and operating Ganas Hardware in Lakeland, Georgia. Clara also supported her in-laws on the family farm early in the mornings before heading to the hardware store to continue her workday.
Clara had a special love for cooking, particularly baking, which she used as a way to spread joy. She often baked treats to take to the nursing home, brightening the days of the residents with her thoughtful gestures. Her giving heart extended beyond the kitchen, as she devoted much of her time to helping others.
A dedicated member of Good Hope Baptist Church for many years, Clara was actively involved in the church’s Women’s Ministry. She also enjoyed her time as a member of the Valdosta Country Club, where she loved playing golf with the ladies.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 59 and a half years, Charles Ganas; son, Chuck Ganas and daughter-in-law, Ann Ganas; sister, Mary Stewart (Scottie); sister-in-law, Evelyn Joyce (Chandler); brothers-in-law: Louis Ganas, Carl Law and Harris Register.
Survivors include her Son and Daughter-in-law, Craig Ganas (Stephanie) of Homerville, GA; Grandchildren: Sarah Ganas, Buck Ganas (Samantha), Monica Lee (Austin), Bankes Ganas; great grandchildren: Preston Lee and Allie Lee; sister, Darlene Mikes (Jim) of Tampa, Florida; brother, Bruce Dixon (Rita) of Blackshear, Georgia; sisters-in-law: Grace Smith (Albert) of Naylor, Georgia, Jane Law of Valdosta, Georgia and Bonnie Ganas of Naylor, Georgia; brother-in-law, Danny Ganas (Wanda) of Lake Park, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; special caregivers: Eula Mann, Angela Roberts and Robbie Sue Delk.
