Sherry W. McDonald, 64, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Langdale Hospice House.
Born on August 2, 1961, in Valdosta, Sherry was the beloved daughter of the late Norman H.C. Weeks and Dorothy Juanita Tucker Weeks. A lifelong resident of Valdosta, she dedicated over 30 years to early childhood education as a Pre-K teacher with Valdosta City Schools. Sherry was deeply passionate about her work and touched the lives of countless students and families with her kindness, patience, and nurturing spirit.
Known for her generous heart and remarkable memory, Sherry never forgot a face, especially the children she taught. Her love for her family was unwavering, and she especially cherished time spent with her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Gigi.” Whether it was a lively family game night or a simple gathering, Sherry’s joyful spirit and competitive streak earned her the proud title of “UNO Champ.”
Sherry also had a special place in her heart for her furry companions, Murphy and Gravy, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
Along with her father, she is preceded in death by her father-in-law, Richard McDonald.
She is survived by her husband, Billy McDonald of Valdosta, Georgia; daughters: Jordan Mendoza (Jose) of Clarksville, Tennessee, Brittany McDonald (Sam Garvin) of West Moreland, Tennessee; mother, Dorothy Weeks of Quitman, Georgia; mother-in-law: Peggy McDonald of Quitman, Georgia; grandchildren: Jacob Mendoza, Isabella Mendoza and Emerson Mendoza; sister, Teresa Hall (Benjie) of Pavo, Georgia; brother, Wade Weeks (Doris) of Pelham, Georgia; brother-in-law, Kenny McDonald (Debbie) of Valdosta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Tina Eubanks (Keaton) of Pelham, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Pinetta First Baptist Church in Pinetta, Florida. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the church.
