Betty Jean DeVane, age 76, of Dasher, Georgia, passed away, Monday, July 25, 2022, at her residence. She was born April 27, 1946, to the late Katie Louise Harrell Brown and William Jack Brown. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. DeVane made her career in the medical field where she was a trained phlebotomist before finding her calling in medical administration. Mrs. DeVane enjoyed cooking and baking and could often be found in her kitchen preparing her favorite dishes for her family. She loved to read and work in her yard, but her favorite pastime was shopping. She would truly “shop till she dropped”. In addition to her parents, Mrs. DeVane was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Jimmie Wanzie DeVane. Mrs. DeVane is survived by two daughters: Jenny D. Miller and husband Zane of Pinetta, Florida and Judy D. Atkinson and Randy House of Thomasville, Georgia; five grandchildren: Blake Corbett and husband Drew, Amber Patel and fiancé Rodger Clifton, Garrett Harris, and Zach Floyd; seven great-grandchildren: Addison Green, Skylar Green, Wyatt Harris, Chandler Clifton, Ryleigh Corbett, Laycee Harris, and Bentley Floyd; a sister, Sue B. Gay of Dasher Georgia; a twin brother, Dean Brown of Valdosta, Georgia; and a lifelong friend, Molly Sauls of Valdosta, Georgia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 29, 2022, at Music Funeral Services, Valdosta Chapel. Burial will follow in Dasher Cemetery.
