Joe Lavaughn Christian, age 83, of Naylor, Georgia, passed away, Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at the Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Georgia. Joe was born July 13, 1938 in Tazewell, Virginia to the late Sussie Byrd Nunn Christian and Henry Martin Christian. He was a twenty-three-year veteran of the United State Air Force and a retired Rural Letter Carrier with the United States Postal Service. He was a loving husband, father, granddad and great-granddad. He was a best friend, was a licensed Pilot and loved to fly and run. Joe was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife and the mother of his children, Freida Marlene Jackson Christian; his twin brother, Charles Laverne Christian, brother, Hunter Martin Christian; sisters, Alice Gray Christian and Marjorie Nell Tabor. Survivors include his loving wife of four years, Jeanne Christian, Naylor, Georgia; his children: Randy Christian of Gainesville, Florida, Kevin Christian and wife Tiffany of Valdosta, Georgia, Sharon Rapp of Lanham, Maryland, Melvin Guthrie of Dillwyn, Virginia, Sheryl Bolner of Pasadena Maryland, Sheila Guthrie of Severn, Maryland and Shannan Wills and husband Daris of Shady Springs, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Kevin Christian, Melissa Pate and Suzanne Childree and three great-grandchildren, Aiden Pate, Jackson Pate and Libby Wooten; one sister, Carolyn C. Gwaltney and husband Lee of Colorado; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 4 O’clock pm, Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Music Funeral Services, Lakeland Chapel. Interment will be private. The family will be receiving friends from 2:00 pm until 3:45 pm at the funeral home in Lakeland, Georgia.
