Marie Maughon Tomlinson – 83 Of Lakeland, Georgia passed away Friday, July 15, 2022 at her home. Mrs. Tomlinson was born April 15, 1939 to the late Lonnie Gordon and Eula Mae (Clanton) Maughon. She retired from the Lanier County School System after many years of dedicated service to the youth of Lanier County. Mrs. Tomlinson was an avid Braves Baseball fan and cheered loud and proud for “her Braves”, in the good seasons and the bad. She loved to fish and could direct you to the best fishing spots in Banks Lake, as well as other area lakes and rivers. Her love for Bluegrass Music and camping went hand in hand. She spent many hours with friends camping at area Bluegrass festivals. Along with her parents, Mrs. Tomlinson was preceded in death by three sisters: Dottie Maughon, Mary Waller, Maxine McLain; and two brothers: L.G. Maughon and Kenneth Maughon. Mrs. Tomlinson is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles Tomlinson of Lakeland, Georgia; son, Scott Tomlinson (Patti) of Cobb, Georgia; daughter, Susan Beale (Wade) of Valdosta, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Jeremy White, Andrew White, Mathew Tomlinson, Jr. (Melanie), John Tomlinson (Erica), Lauren Mickle (Grant), Seth Tomlinson, and Will Tomlinson; nine great grandchildren: Anson, Emma, Lanie, Iris, Jaxson, Jack Henry, Mathew, III, Louis, and Silas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 18, 2022 at Camp Creek Baptist Church, 7227 Nashville Highway, Lakeland, Georgia 31635. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M., Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Music Funeral Services, 88 West Main Street, Lakeland, Georgia 31635. Mrs. Tomlinson will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org/.
