    Marvin Lee Keene

    November 15, 1930 - September 27, 2021

Marvin Lee Keene of Valdosta, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home on September 27, 2021. He was born on February 15, 1930 to the late John and Josephine Keene in Rockville, MD. After graduating from high school, Marvin joined the Navy and served 4 years before enlisting with the U.S. Air Force and served as an air traffic controller for another 26 years. He was a decorated veteran who served during the Vietnam war. Marvin was a family man. His greatest joy in life was loving and spoiling his wife, children and grandchildren. Anyone that knew Marvin knew he was the most loving spouse and father a family could ask for. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling throughout Europe and America. Marvin loved children and was an “Honorary Doctor” and host for the Jerry Lewis telethon and often volunteered with the Special Olympics. He also enjoyed playing the role of Santa, annually at the mall. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth Keene and grandson Joshua Commander. He is survived by his children, John (Lydia) Keene, Jody (Randy) Griffin and Lisa Miley; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Miller, Micha Cofield, Jarred (Tiffany) Thomas, Sam Commander, Lea (Brian) Smith, Trey (Logan) Miley along with many cherished great grandchildren. A memorial service, honoring both Marvin and Ruth Keene, will be held at 11:00 AM on Sunday, November 7, 2021 in the chapel of Music Funeral Services. The rendering of Military Honors for Mr. Keene will follow immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association. The family asks that all whom may attend the service, please wear a mask.
