Mattie Jane Brantley – 84 Of Blythe, GA passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at her residence. Mrs. Brantley was born on November 8, 1937 to the late Bascam Henry Clanton and Edith Irene Giddens in Lakeland, GA. She made her career as a devoted United States Army wife and mother. Mrs. Brantley was a nurturing person that loved children and made her second career caring for and raising numerous children in her home. She was a faithful Atlanta Braves fan. Anytime the Braves were playing, you could find her cheering them on from her favorite spot in front of the TV. She was a member of the Lakeland United Methodist Church. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James “Jimmy” Brantley; daughter, Edith Denise Brantley and brother, Richard Clanton. Survivors include son and daughter in-law, James M. (Vickie) Brantley of Kwajalein Island in the republic of the Marshall Islands; sister, Barbara Walton of Savannah, GA; sister in-laws, Mary Linda Brantley Allen and Beverly Clanton both of Lakeland, GA along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 19, 2022 in the Lakeland chapel of Music Funeral Services, with interment following in the Greenlawn cemetery, Lakeland. The family will receive friends and guests from 2:00 – 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Lakeland United Methodist Church 80 W Main St. Lakeland, GA 31635 or Camp Creek Baptist Church C/O Vivian McCain 314 Dande Road Homerville, GA 31634.
