Virginia Newsom Lord, age 80, of Valdosta passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022 at her residence. She was born in Lake City, Florida to the late Ruth Jane Ward and Cecil Buel Newsom. She was a clerk and worked in retail for DeSoto Drugs. She was a loving mother, avid church goer, a friend and loved to cook. Virginia also enjoyed getting together with her friends, and traveling on vacation. She was a homemaker and kept her home going. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George Benjamin Lord, Jr. and a brother Clif Newsom. Survivors include: son, Eric Lord of Valdosta, Georgia; daughter, Angie Lord and husband Mike Kufrovich of Hahira, Georgia; brother, David Newsom and wife Brenda of Lake Butler, Florida; 2 nephews Shawn Newsom and wife Emily of Lake Butler, Florida; and Ashley Newsom and wife Colleen of Lake Butler, Florida, sister-in-law, Kathy Newsom of St. Augustine, Florida. Memorialization will be by cremation and a private family service will be held at a later time. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
