Alfred Martin Glasser Jr.

November 19, 1949 — January 11, 2026

Valdsota

Alfred Martin Glasser Jr., age 80, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born to the late Alfred Glasser and Dorothy Glasser on November 19, 1945, in Albany, New York.

Alfred will be remembered as a devoted husband, a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, and a man of quiet strength and deep love. He served his country with honor, carrying that sense of duty and integrity throughout his life. Alfred cherished his loving wife, Sangar whose companionship and devotion were the cornerstone of his life.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Alfred Martin Glasser III, and his sisters Yvonne Penrose, Edna Villarama, and Mildred Black.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Sangar Sangon Glasser of Valdosta, Georgia; sister Joan Glasser of Cohoes, New York; daughter Somboon Pengnam of Bangkok, Thailand; daughter Siranee (William) Conklin of Ashburn, Georgia; daughter Sonia Mae Sutton of Marysville, Ohio; daughter Silena May Glasser of Valdosta, Georgia; grandchildren Gabriella Sangar Conklin, Genevieve Martine Conklin, Josephine Valentine Conklin, Alfred William Conklin, Brittaney Sutton Medero, Jason Bradley Sutton, Everly Eugena Berwager, Taelyn Eugena Berwager; great-granddaughter Misty Rose Sutton, and many nieces and nephews.

Alfred served over 20 years in the Air Force, traveling all over the world, retiring at his final duty station at Moody Air Force Base in 1986, and decided to make Valdosta his home.

Alfred then worked for Lockheed-Martin, at their Strategic Weapons Facility – Atlantic division (SWFLANT) for 23 years. There, he applied his electrical knowledge to the Trident II nuclear missile systems. His fastidious approach to organization endeared him to his coworkers, friends, and especially family. His favorite tool was his label-maker.

Alfred had a habit of whistling nonchalantly while he worked, earning him the nickname The Tuneless Whistler among his work peers. That’s how you knew he was in his happy place.

He loved simple things in life: a good meal, a favorite hat, a comfy chair, and fun conversation. He was a conversationalist who talked the ear off everyone he met.

He talked to everyone, about anything. He told the same stories over and over again, and always had new stories as well. Alfred had an enormous sense of humor, and was known for his quirky wit, practical jokes, and his favorite bumper sticker that read, “I love cats, they taste just like chicken”.

More than anything else, Alfred loved his family, and loved spending time with them, teaching them, and passing on his knowledge. He seemed to know almost everything and could fix anything, and would gladly tell you all about it.

His children and grandchildren learned so much just by spending time with him, whether it was carpentry, electrical work, soldering metal, playing chess, how to build with Legos, or the best way to win at Hungry Hungry Hippos.

He always thought of everyone else, and made sure everyone had what they needed or wanted. His favorite thing to do while visiting family was completing a project list or just tinkering.
