Alice M. Hughes, age 79, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026. She was born to loving parents, Alonzo Seymour and Evelyn Marie Folds Seymour in Donaldsonville, GA on May 28, 1947.

Alice loved her family dearly. She enjoyed going to church, listening to gospel music, and finding joy in the simple things she loved. Whether she was watching the excitement of dirt track racing or relaxing along the peaceful shores of the beach, Alice embraced life with warmth and appreciation.

She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband, James “Wilbur” Hughes; and sister, Clara Warren.

Alice is survived by her son, Joey Peterson (Mildred) of Hahira; brother, Phillip Seymour (Judy) of Valdosta; sisters Linda Freer (Fred) of Canton, GA and Neita Baldree (Ricky) of Hahira; grandchild, Brantley Peterson and a numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, August 25,2026 at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Valdosta, GA. A visitation will be held the night prior from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Music Funeral Services, Valdosta.
