Alice Broome Wooten Dorminey - 96
Of Valdosta passed away Monday evening October 9, 2006 in South Georgia Medical center after a brief illness. She was born January 8, 1910 to the late Willie Sandford Broome and Rachael Eleanor Broome. She attended the first Valdosta public schools. She was the first woman hired for civilian work at Moody Air field in 1941. She retired from W.T. Grant Company in 1972. She was a charter member of Lighthouse Baptist Church Grandma would always send greeting cards for different occasions to all church members and friends. this lead to her being know as the Sunshine Girl. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Clyde Fatty, Jesse, Thomas, and Chester Broome, and a step-daughter Catherine Dorminey Simpson Her first Husband, A.L. Wooten and her late husband Pearlie Dorminey formerly with VPD also precedes her in death
Survivors include: 2 Step-Sons and Daughters-in-Law, Buddy & Mary-Helen Dorminey of Waycross, GA, Jimmy & Theresa Dorminey of Valdosta, GA, Step-Daughter & Son-in-Law, Betty & Jim Dubberley of Kissimmee, FL, 8 Step Grandchildren, Several Great-Grandchildren, 3 loving and devoted friends, Joann Welton, Tonya Pierson and Vickie Burt.
Funeral services were held Thursday, October 12, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Lighthouse Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Burt officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Mrs.
