Alma "Ruth" Jarvis

June 6, 1942 — May 18, 2025

Alma “Ruth” Jarvis, 82, of Ray City, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 6, 1942, in Quitman, Georgia, to the late Cleon Hutchinson and Alma Mulder Hutchinson. Ruth was a spirited and outspoken woman who brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, she had a gift for making people laugh and never missed a chance to brighten someone’s day. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them—spoiling them with love, laughter, and warm memories. Family gatherings were her favorite times—filled with food, stories, and a whole lot of laughter. She believed in the simple joys of life: a good meal, good company, and a heart full of love. For over 30 years, she took immense pride in her work at Cracklin Goods Bakery, where she became not just an employee but a beloved part of the community. Her dedication and love for her work shone through in everything she did. She adored her husband of 29 years and often said, “Why mess with the rest when you’ve had the best?” Their love was a constant in her life—a true partnership filled with devotion and humor. Though they were parted for 35 years, we take comfort in knowing they are now reunited, rejoicing together once again. A love like theirs never faded—it simply waited. She found comfort in old gospel hymns and could often be found enjoying classic westerns on quiet afternoons. And in true spirited fashion, she never missed her daily Red Bull—her signature drink for years and a little symbol of her unstoppable energy and zest for life. Her warmth, humor, and unshakable love for her family will be missed beyond words. In addition to her parents and her husband of 29 years, Buddy, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Jerry Hutchinson, Kenny Hutchinson, and Denny Hutchinson; and her sisters: Faye Hutchinson, Arneita Ethridge, and Sue Pirkle. Survivors include: Son and daughter-in-law: Joey Jarvis (Misty) of Ray City, Georgia, Daughter and son-in-law: Lesa Greenwood (Richard) of Orlando, Florida, Grandchildren: Jessie Jarvis, Izzy Greenwood, RJ Greenwood, and Katelyn Greenwood, Jessica Stuart (David), Great-grandchildren; Gracie Stone, Jack Stuart, and Harry Stuart. Brother and sister-in-law: Chester Hutchinson (Shirley) of Tampa, Florida. Sisters: Linda Hutchinson and Shirley Hutchinson, both of Lake Park, Georgia; Numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members; Two additional children, Wayne and Rhonda Jarvis. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM in the chapel of Music Funeral Services, with burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman, Georgia.
