Alma Ruth Thigpen – 89

Of Valdosta left her earthly body on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 after a short illness. She was born in Echols County on November 1, 1918 to the late David Douce Bradwell and Francis Griffin Moore. Ms. Alma was a child of God, and a faithful member of Calvary Tabernacle Holiness Church. She is preceded in death by her brother, Vernon Moore of Mayday, GA.

Survivors include:Husband, Charlie J. Thigpen, Adel, GA, Sons, Harvey Carroll & Mary Lois Parker, Echols County, GA, Stan & Eloise Parker, St. Petersburg, FL, Tom & Windy Parker, Jacksonville, FL, Terry Bryant, Valdosta, GA, Six grandchildren, One Great-Grandchild, Sister, Johnnie Moore Tomlinson, Mayday, GA, Numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and good friends

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 17, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with Ms. Alma's pastor, Brother Franklin McDaniel officiating. Interment will be held following the service at Riverview Memorial Gardens; followed by a celebration of Ms. Alma's life at Carroll and Mary Lois Parker's home, 214 Magnolia Lane, Lake Park, in Echols County, where Ms. Alma resided until shortly before the death of her earthly body. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 16, 2008 at the funeral home.
