Alvin L. Bode – 75
Of Statenville, GA passed away peacefully at his home on June 23, 2015. He was born on April 17, 1940 in Foosland, IL at home to the late John & Mable Bode. He worked for Slater Trucking in St. Louis, IL before being drafted into the United States Army where he spent 2 years at Ft. Benning, GA. After his service he moved to Columbus, GA where he was a firefighter for 10 years. He then moved to Statenville, GA and retired in 2002 at Roadway in Lake Park, GA where he drove over the road for over 25 years. He was of the Catholic faith and was always concerned for the well- being of friends and family. He was part of the Roadway Retires Group. He wrote and mailed monthly letters that included birthdays, jokes, recipes, news concerning members of the group, news at Roadway and anyone who may have passed away from Roadway. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings Albert Bode, Henry Bode, Edith Newman and, Esther Molck.
Survivors Include: Wife, Carol Garard Bode, Statenville, GA; Sons & Daughter-in-law: Jaime April Bode, Jeff Bode and Jerome Lea Bode; 4 Grandchildren: Jessica Bode, Kimberly Petty, Harley Warren and, Abbey Warren; 4 Great Grandchildren; Sister & Brother-in-law: Edna Roger Huppert, numerous Nieces, Nephews and, Extended Family and a longtime childhood friend, Guy J.R. Stappenbeck Jr.
As per his wishes he will be cremated and no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Halcyon Hospice at 101 Northside Drive, Building E, Valdosta, GA 31602 or a charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. John Devine and all the staff at Pearlman Cancer Center in Valdosta, GA and the nurses and aides at Halcyon Hospice for all their care and support.
