Andrew Dale Charos - 78
Of Valdosta passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Langdale Hospice House after a short illness. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 31, 1931 to the late Andrew James and Ada Dorothy Charos. Mr. Charos served as a fighter pilot in the US Air Force, achieving the rank of Major. He retired with over 20 year's service. He earned degrees in both Aeronautical and Electrical Engineering, and worked with Boeing and Honeywell. He retired with 29 years of service as a Process Control Engineer with Owens-Illinois. Mr. Charos attended Perimeter Road Baptist Church in Valdosta.
Mr. Charos is survived by his, Wife, Dorothy Lee Stephenson Charos, Valdosta, GA, Son, Anthony Dale "Tony" Charos, Macon GA, Sister, Mary Ann Gardels, Independence, MO, Brother in Laws and Sister in Laws: Virginia Parker, Joyce Johnson, Vernon Stephenson, Hugh Stephenson, and Leland Stephenson, all of Valdosta, GA, Special Friend, Henry Cone, Valdosta GA, A number of nieces and nephews and close family members
In addition to his parents, Mr. Charos was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lee Ann Charos.
Funeral services will be held in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 9, 2009 with Dr. Jimmy Baughcum officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Valdosta.
