Angel (Gallego) Torres-Valencia – 81 of Lakeland, Georgia passed away on Sunday January 17, 2021 in the South Georgia Medical Center. He was born on May 20, 1939 in Punta Alegre, Chambas, Ciego de Avila, to the late Angel (Valencia) and Angel Torres. Angel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He had a great love for the ocean. He often enjoyed fishing and had a love for boats. Angel was even known to have saved lives while being out on the water. He was a hardworking man and proud Owner & Operator of his own moving business. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by the people who raised him, Josefa and Contano Casola; 13 siblings.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Essie Lee Thomas Torres of Lakeland, Georgia; Daughter, Josefa Angel Fussell and husband Butch of Lakeland, Georgia; Grandchildren: Diya Kosater, Daileigh Dalton, Stephan Fussell, Valencia Fussell; 3 great grandchildren; brother: Aldofo Torres-Valencia; sisters: Aurora Torres-Valencia, Maria Casola, all of Cuba; Niece, Mayte Martin of Miami, Florida; The family of Essie and Ollie Thomas of Lakeland Georgia; sisters-in-law: Vonice Thomas Dean and husband Benny of Lakeland, GA and Bonnie Thomas Pendleton of Savannah, GA; as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Graveside Rites will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday January 20, 2021 in the Burnt Church Cemetery in Lakeland, Georgia. The family will greet friends thirty minutes before service at the cemetery. Messages of sympathy may be left at
