Annie Prather- 85
Died peacefully on April 19, 2024, in Quitman, Georgia, following a brief illness. Her family were at her side. Better known as Ruth, she was born March 1, 1939, in Hull, Georgia, to the late Robert Melton and Frances Wilson. Ruth was a homemaker after marrying the love of her life. She was a nanny for many families. She was famously known by her family for making the best chicken and dumplings, homemade biscuits, iced box fruit cake, and sour cream pound cakes. Her favorite things were shopping, Tuscany toffee freezers from Ellianos, and peach ice cream every summer. She was a member of River Road Baptist Church in Hillard, Florida.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter Lisa Brown (Frank); granddaughter, Jennifer Rose Hewett (James).
Survivors include daughter, Kimberly Walker (James); son, Stacey Prather (Wendy); brother, Randall Melton (Ann); a host of grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Her husband, Samuel James “Bobby” Prather, whom she married June 20, 1958, preceded her in death on April 13, 1995.
