Of Valdosta passed away Friday, March 9, 2012, at South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on December 25, 1926, in Appling County, GA to the late Dave and Sarah Elizabeth Bratcher Steedley. She retired from Southern Bell after 22 years of service as an operator supervisor and was a member of Open Door Fellowship Church. At the age of 70 she went back to school to earn her CNA degree so she could sit with the "elderly". She was preceded in death by a sister, Bithey Mae Wilcox, and 3 brothers, Carlos Steedley, Aubrey Steedley and Clarence Steedley.
Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-law, Christine Corbett & Sonny Southers, Lake City, FL; Sons & Daughters-in-law, James E. & Tracy Corbett, Valdosta, GA, Phillip N. & Joanie Corbett, Wellborn, FL; 6 Grandchildren: Lydia Corbett, Hunter Corbett, David Corbett, Joe Corbett, Junior Brookins and Peyton Corbett; Brother & Sister-in-law, Amos & Susan Steedley, North Augusta, SC
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, March 12, 2012 at Open Door Fellowship Church with burial following in Sunset Hill Cemetery. She will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the funeral home.
