Arthur Eugene Mathis – 75
Of Valdosta is passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at the VA Medical Center in Gainesville, FL. after a brief illness. He was born in Berrien County, GA on June 22, 1933 to the late Thomas Edward & Girlie Agnes Whittle Mathis. He served in the United States Army. Following his service in the United States Army he was a farmer and a diesel mechanic for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Henry Alexander, first wife, Carolyn Mathis, a brother, Hank Mathis, and a sister, Cora Lee Smith.
Survivors include: Wife, Janie Mathis, Quitman, GA, Daughters & Sons-in-law, Kathy & Gary Zipperer, Valdosta, GA, Angie & Steve Walker, Valdosta, GA, Debbie Stark, Wetumpka, GA, Sons & Daughters-in-law, Sammy & Sally Mathis, Valdosta, GA, Keith Sullivan, Valdosta, GA, Victor & Marchelle Sullivan, Valdosta, GA, 11 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, Numerous Brothers-in-law, Sisters-in-law, Nephews and Nieces
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 19, 2008 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial following in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Quitman, GA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday September 18, 2008.
