Of Cecil, Georgia passes away Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Langdale Hospice House. After owning and operating Carter's Grocery Store in Cecil, Georgia for many years she retired in 1987. Mrs. Carter was an avid gardener and loved working in her yard. She was a charter member for fifty years of Hahira Church of God. She was born on December 25, 1928 in Cook County to the late George and Natalie Bennett Walker. She is preceded in death by her husband Doyce L. Carter, a brother Raymond Walker and two sisters Hazel Register and Francis Zeigler.
Survivors Include: Daughter & Son-in-Law: Myrtle & William Geyer, Jr., Hahira, Ga; Son & Daughter-in-Law: D. Larry & Paula Carter, Lake Park, Ga; 4 Grandchildren: Doug & Amy Carter, Valdosta, Ga, Melissa & Lee Boatenreiter, Valdosta, Ga, Dr. Dennis & Eve Geyer, Gig Harbor, Wa, William Geyer, III, Tallahassee, Fl; Great-Grandchildren: Mary Alex and Davis Carter, Carter and Converse Boatenreiter, and Kathleen and Andrew Geyer; several special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at 2:00 P.M. in the Valdosta chapel of Music Funeral Services with the Rev. Leonard Harnage and Rev. James Kiser officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Church Cemetery in Cook County. The family will receive family friends this evening from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, Ga 31603.
