Barbara Jean Carter

Barbara “Bobbie” Jean Carter, age 81, of Jennings, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born in Hampden, WV on April 16, 1945, to late loving parents, Moss and Bessie Mae Hatfield.

She was a dedicated housekeeper and dietary at Akron City Hospital for over a decade. She loved being with her family and doting on her grandchildren and great grandbabies.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tolbert “Ed” Carter; daughter, Melissa Ann Stevens; grandson, Thomas Steven; brother-in-law, “Junior “William Dillon; sister Emelene Mason, Juanita Christian, Norma Jusitce, Shirley Dretzel and brothers, Ray Hatfield, Elbert Hatfield, Moss Hatfield, Jr., Sherman Hatfield, Charles Hatfield and Billy Ray Hatfield.

Bobbie is survived by her sons, Jason Carter of Lake Park, GA. and Eddie Carter of Jennings, Fl; grandchildren, Eddie Carter Jr., Hannah Carter, Amber Carter, Brittany Galloway (Shawn), Dakota Stevens, Alyessa Carter, Jadyn Carter and Aiden Carter; great grandchildren, Remi Galloway, Maliki Galloway, and Ryland Galloway; sisters, Maxine Dillon of Whitman, WV and Nina Tenney (Jerry) of Akron OH; brother Jack Hatfield (Patricia) of Oceana, WV and one special friend, Darlene Duty of Oceana, WV.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Tuesday, July 14, 2026, in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
