Barbara Ann Fender Peterson, 72, of Ray City, Georgia, passed away, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center, Tifton, Georgia. Barbara was born December 2, 1949 in Willacoochee, Georgia, to the late Mary Harding Fender and Rufus Fender. She was a cook in the Mess Halls, with the Department of Defense, at the different Army Bases where her husband was stationed. Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Barbara was a talented Quilter, enjoyed sewing; loved to listen to gospel music and loved being outside gardening. She is preceded in death by her parents; a great-granddaughter, Lexia Woods; three brothers, Calvin Fender, Rufus “Junior” Fender and John “Dink” Fender; one sister, Betty Jean F. Frier.
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty years, John Peterson, Ray City, Georgia; two daughters: Ann Tillman, Jacksonville, Florida, and Cheryl Peterson, Ray City, Georgia; four grandchildren: Julie Woods, Sara Ellis, Joshua Banfield and Mikey Wilson; four great-grandchildren: Hunter Woods, Aadain Woods, Kaylee Ellis and Liam Ellis; two brothers: Jimmy Fender (Louise), Nashville, Georgia, Kenneth Fender (Debbie), Ray City, Georgia; three sisters-in-law: Dorothy Fender, Lakeland, Georgia, Judy Fender, Ray City, Georgia and Geraldine Fender, Pearson, Georgia; one brother-in-law: Wayne Peterson of Sarasota, Florida and numerous nieces and nephew also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00O’clock PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at the Music Funeral Services, Lakeland Chapel. Burial will follow in Fender Cemetery.
