Bart Hens

Bart Hens 59 of Valdosta passed away May 20, 2016 in the South Georgia Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Buffalo, New York on July 24, 1956. He served in the United States Military Navy and Army for 23 years. Following his retirement he began his local law enforcement career. He worked for the Valdosta Police Department, Lowndes County Sheriff's Department and Lakeland Police Department for over 15 years before retiring due to declining health. He enjoyed target shooting, reading and staying connected to his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Bartholomew Francis Hens, Sr.

He is survived by: Wife of 32 years, Melissa Hens, Valdosta, Georgia; Daughter and Son-in-Law, Michelle and Dustin Harnage, Tallahassee, Florida; 2 Sons and Daughters-in-Law, Travis and Katrina Hens, Valdosta, Georgia, Justin Hens and Pam Brady, Hahira, Georgia; 8 Grandchildren: Matthew Harnage, Addison Harnage, Jubilee Waychoff, Khloe Waychoff, Riley Hens, Brooke Hayes, Brady Hayes and Brianna Hayes; Mother, Patricia Hens, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Sister and Brother-in-Law, Kathryn and Sam Hens-Greco, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Brother and Sister-in-Law, Martin and Mary Hens, Amherst, New York and many Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 from 6-8 P.M. The Hens family is being served by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services in Valdosta.
