Bernard Bolton – 85
Of Lake Park went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 08, 2012 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Segal, Kentucky on January 3, 1927, the son of Roscoe and Ada Bolton where he grew up with 11 brothers and sisters and 4 half brothers and sisters. He joined the United States Army in 1945 and was stationed in Erlangen, Germany, where he met his future German "Frau", Evie Heyer. He graduated from Western Kentucky, in Bowling Green, Kentucky with a teaching degree and taught school in Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, and was a high school principal in Tennessee. He received two Masters from Valdosta State University in English and High School counseling. He taught school for over 40 years and was a counselor at Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia until his retirement in 1995.
Mr. Bolton's greatest achievement was obeying the Gospel in 1958 and preaching the Word for over 60 years, including 10 missionary trips to India where he formed many lasting, loving relationships. He worked with the Jennings Church of Christ until declining health forced him to retire from preaching, but was a "good and faithful servant" until the Lord called him home.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Evie, daughters Jenene Steve Dasher of Lake Park, GA, Diane Bolton of Lake Park, GA, and Cathy Mike Gravitt of Mason Ohio. He has four grandchildren, Stephen Jessica Dasher of Lake Park, GA, Jeffrey Katherine Dasher of Lake Park, GA, Melanie Chris Casey of Mason, Ohio and Scott Jennifer Gravitt of Fairfield, Ohio. Great-grandchildren Alexis Dasher, Jaycee Dasher, Emma Dasher, Zach & Micah Casey, his twin sister, Bernice Baker of Live Oak, Florida, sister, Ann Bryant of Pacific Grove, California, brothers, Frank Glinda Bolton of Ridgecrest, California, Charles Leon Wanda Bolton of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Sister-in-law, Betty Bolton of Naples, Florida, , sister-in-law, Ruth Heyer Burkebile of Spring, Texas, sister-in-law, Heidel Heyer Wiesenheimer of Erlangen, Germany and brother-in-law, Manfred Loni Heyer of Erlangen, Germany and a host of nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters in Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Mausoleum Chapel at Riverview Memorial Garden with entombment to follow. His Grandson, Scott Gravitt will preside over the service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the Mausoleum Chapel of Riverview Memorial Gardens.
