Bettie Ann Pooser Alexander Durden – 83
Of Valdosta passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Langdale Hospice House after a lengthy illness. She was born on July 18, 1932 in Branford, FL to the late William Jackson & Mary Kent Pooser. She was a very active member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Girls Auxiliary Director, WMU Director, Associational Girls Auxiliary Director and in many other numerous positions. She worked as a seamstress at Varnedoe & Company but her greatest love was being a mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, Arthur Lee Alexander and 2nd husband, Edward Durden, daughter, Laurie Dutton, brothers: Billy Alexander, Bobby Townsend & Freddy Townsend.
Survivors Include: Son & Daughter-in-law, William & Marie Alexander, Orlando, FL; 2 Daughters & Son-in-law: Pauline Player, Valdosta, GA, Nina & Randy Noles, Ray City, GA; Grandchildren: Katie, Michelle, Billy, Emily, Jonathon, Carl, Lee, Sharlotte, Tim and Adam; 15 Great Grandchildren; 2 Great Great Grandchildren; Sister, Joyce Zehnder, Gulf Shores, AL; 3 Brothers & Sister-in-law George & Wendy Townsend, Fort White, FL, Clifford Townsend, Lake City, FL, Perry & Christine Townsend Vermont and a number of nieces and nephews
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 22, 2015 in the New Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in Cat Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Durden will be placed in the church 1 hour prior to services. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, December 21, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
