Betty Jean Fouraker, 89
of Valdosta, Georgia, passed peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
Born March 11, 1936, in Valdosta, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Langston and Sally Rountree. She spent her early years working at the Paper Mill and later at Mizell Floor Covering. But her heart was always with her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the very light of her life. Their joy was her mission, and she fulfilled that calling with grace and love.
Betty was a devoted mother and a nurturing grandmother, whose love knew no bounds. She had a green thumb and found peace in tending to her plants. She also had a passion for quilting—an art she mastered with skill and pride as a member of the local quilting guild.
A faithful member of Greenwood Baptist Church, Betty worshipped alongside her beloved husband, Ichabod, with whom she shared 70 cherished years of marriage. Their love and devotion were a testament to faith, family, and commitment.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ichabod Fouraker; her sister, Norma; and her brother, Haywood.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her sons: Ichabod Fouraker III, Lee Fouraker (Carol), Vance Fouraker (Jennifer), and Forrest Fouraker Sr. (Tracy); her grandchildren: Ichabod IV, Jesse McRoberts (Richie), Forrest Fouraker Jr. (Jessica), Cody Fouraker (Megan), Colin Fouraker (Chelsea), Clark Fouraker (Lillian), and Colby Fouraker; and 14 great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy.
She is also lovingly remembered by her special caregivers, Charlene Shiver McCracken and Debi Tinsley, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 in the Chapel of Music Funeral Services, Valdosta. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Kind words and expressions of sympathy can be left for the family at
