Betty Jean Johnson Tanner – 66
of Lakeland passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018 at South Georgia Medical Center after a sudden illness. She was born on June 5, 1951 in Adel, GA to the late James & Sally (Ward) Register. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church, Valdosta. Mrs. Tanner enjoyed going on gambling cruises and playing bingo. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Lanier County School System for a number of years. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Johnson; sister, Sarah “Babe” Smith and brothers, Jimmy Register & Nolan Register.
Survivors Include: 2 Sons & Daughters-in-law: Ray & Kayla Johnson, Lakeland, GA & James & Lareatha Clark, Stockton, GA; Grandchildren: Brianna Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Brayden Johnson, Shane Clark, Tyler Clark & Megan Clark; Great Grandson: Colton Levi Fitzgerald; 4 Sisters & Brother-in-law: Patsy Nathey, Ray City, Elaine & Edward Guess, Valdosta, Kathy Setlock, Michigan, Ann Payne, Valdosta; 2 Brothers & Sister-in-law: Roy Register, Valdosta, Dewey & Lisa Register, Lake Park and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. No formal services will be held. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com . The Johnson family is being cared for by the professional and caring staff of Music Funeral Services, Lakeland.
