Betty Jo Monk

Betty Jo Monk – 72 of Valdosta, GA passed away on Saturday April 11, 2020 in her home. She was born on April 5, 1948 in Des Moines, IA to the late Anna Marie Mincer and Ralph James Townsend. In her lifetime, Betty held the title of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, all of which she excelled in. She dedicated her life to her family. Betty enjoyed watching TV, a good cup of coffee, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She was also very fond of her 18-year-old beagle, grand-dog Clyde. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joe H. Monk; sister, Elizabeth Brinner; and brothers, Harold Townsend and Jimmy Townsend.
Survivors include her children: Jody Monk and wife, Wanda of Dandridge, TN, Anna Marie Bowls and husband, John of Valdosta, GA, Carolyn Wisenbaker and husband Cary (whom Betty affectionately referred to as “sexy”) of St. Augustine, FL, Ralph Monk of Valdosta, GA; Grandchildren: JD and Gabby; Great Grandchildren: Lissa and Laraina; Several nieces and nephews.
