Betty Jean Parrish, age 90, of Lakeland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 13, 2026.

Born on May 30, 1936, in Nashville, Betty was the beloved daughter of James Henry Mathis and Jimmie Lou (Clanton) Mathis. She lived a life defined by faith, hard work, kindness, and an unwavering love for her family.

Betty devoted many years of service as a cook at Green Leaf and Lakeland Villas, where she was known for her dedication and caring spirit. She was a faithful member of Camp Creek Missionary Baptist Church and found great joy in worship and fellowship with her church family.

Above all, Betty cherished her family. Her greatest happiness came from caring for those she loved, often expressed through the meals she lovingly prepared. She never met a stranger and always welcomed others to her table. Whether cooking a family dinner or baking one of her special cakes, Betty found joy in bringing people together and making them feel at home.

She will be remembered for her warm heart, generous spirit, strong faith, and the countless memories she created with family and friends. Her legacy of love, hospitality, and devotion will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Betty will be deeply missed and forever treasured by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
