Of Echols County passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 in the Lakeland Villa Convalescent Home. She was born in Statenville, GA on November 22, 1937 to the late Carson W. & Martha Ellen Touchton Sowell. She was a member of Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Starnes, a son, Robert Michael Starnes, sister, Sue Ellen Thompson and a brother, Edward Sowell.

She is survived by her, Daughter & Son-in-law, Sandra & Edward James, Lakeland, GA; Son & Daughter-in-law, A.J. & Carol Starnes, South Carolina; Grandchildren, Kristy Hutchinson, C.J. Starnes, Travis Starnes; 2 Great Grandchildren; Sister & Brother-in-law, Jackie & Barney Newsome, Jennings, FL, Paula & Dan Goss, Statenville, GA; A number of nieces and nephews

Funeral service will be held at 5:00 PM Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Wrights Chapel United Methodist Church in Echols County, GA. with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Starnes will be placed in the church one hour prior to services. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the funeral home.
