Betty Sue Chadwick

Betty Fullwood Chadwick – 76
Of Lakeland, Ga. Passed away Friday, August 1, 2008 at South Ga. Medical Center after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 29, 1932 in Clinch County, GA to the late William Hobson and Dorothy Harnage Fullwood. Betty owned and operated the LACO restaurant a local gathering place for many years. Our community was kept well informed by people gathering at the LACO drinking coffee and sharing information daily. After leaving the LACO restaurant her love for Lakeland continued, she served two terms as Mayor 1991-1997 and 2002-2005. She also served on the City Council from 2001-2002. She was a member of the Red Hat Ladies, RDC Board of Directors, and Lions Club where she received the Lions Club member of the year award. In 2006 she was the Flatlander of the Year. She was a member of the Pleasant Way Baptist Church in Lowndes County, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Pleasant Way Baptist Church in Lowndes County with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Lakeland, Ga.
