Bill Moore West

Bill Moore West, 88, of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Harborview Satilla in Waycross, Georgia. He was born on November 13, 1937, in Lakeland, Georgia, to the late George Ellie West and Ruby Moore West.

Bill graduated from Lanier County High School in 1955. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Army and honorably served in Germany from 1956 to 1958. Following his military service, he pursued his education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia, attending from 1959 to 1960. He later continued his studies at the University of Georgia in Athens from 1962 to 1964.

Bill dedicated many years to serving others through his career in Civil Service, working as a Loan Officer from 1964 until his retirement, when he chose to step away to care for his mother. His life was marked by service, commitment, and a deep sense of responsibility to his family.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George West and 2 sisters: Helen Griffith and Nell Watson.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy West of Clearwater, Florida; son, Michael Ray Strobo (Jordan) of Clearwater, Florida; grandchildren: Michael R. Strobo, Jr. of Charlotte, North Carolina, Andrew Blake Strobo (Chelsea), Mason James Strobo and Monroe Lynn Strobo; great grandchild, Zoey Elizabeth Strobo; brother-in-law, Darrell Warren (Winona) of Coolidge, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda Matthews of Ochlocknee, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 in the Lakeland First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Burnt Church Cemetery, Lakeland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at the church.
