Billie Langford McDonald – 97
Of Ray City, GA passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his residence, which is next door to the house where he was born on November 10, 1920 in Ray City GA to the late Lacy and Carrie (Langford) McDonald. Billie served his country in the United States Navy during WW2. He held a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona and worked many years as a hydrologist with the United States Geological Survey. Through the years, he resided with his family in Tucson AZ, Safford AZ, Flagstaff AZ, Montgomery AL, Denver CO, Tuscaloosa AL, Rolla MO, and Picayune MS. He left Ray City, GA in 1940 to join the US Navy and returned to Ray City in 1992. In his free time, he enjoyed a variety of sports and working on anything mechanical. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ray City. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Ponsell McDonald.
His survivors include his son & daughter-in-law, Gary & Melanie McDonald of Jacksonville, FL;
daughters & sons-in-law, Jana & Mark Demeranville of Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Teri & Eric Niewoehner of Juneau, AK; 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a number of extended family members and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 4, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Ray City. Messages of sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com . The McDonald family would like to give a special thanks to all of his caregivers over the last several years, Pat Cooper, Kathy Shelton, Gwendolyn Kelley, Karen Corby and Terri Bates. The McDonald family is being cared for by the compassionate and caring staff of Music Funeral Services of Lakeland, GA.
