In Loving Memory of Bobby Bridges
May 6, 1933 – April 3, 2026
Bobby Bridges, affectionately known as “Daddy” and “Papa" to his beloved family, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 92 surrounded by his family in Callahan, FL. He lived his life to the fullest each and every day, enjoying the journey right up until the very end.
Born on May 6, 1933, in Lakeland, Georgia, Bobby was the son of the late Crum and Dollie Mae (Crosby) Bridges. He grew up in a large, tight-knit household where he learned the value of hard work, kindness, and family dedication. A proud Georgia Bulldog, he carried that spirit with him throughout his life.
He was a hardworking and respected employee at Peoples Gas, where he spent many years before enjoying a well-earned retirement that lasted three decades. Even in his working years, Bobby was more than just an employee—he was a role model, an inspiration, and a steady presence for those around him. His work ethic and character left a lasting impression on his coworkers.
Bobby found joy in farming and being surrounded by nature, embracing the peace and purpose it brought him. Whether he was tending to the land or simply taking in the quiet beauty, he felt most at home outdoors. He also loved to fish, finding comfort in the stillness and simplicity of those moments.
Naturally gifted with an incredible voice and the ability to sing, Bobby often filled rooms with warmth and music. He loved to travel and was happiest on the road, driving wherever his heart led him. Whether near or far, he embraced every journey with enthusiasm.
Family was the center of Bobby’s world. He deeply enjoyed quality time sharing meals with his children—whether during special holidays or simple daily meals—moments filled with laughter, stories, and love. Bobby faithfully showed up to cheer on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at countless sporting events. His presence—whether in the stands or around the table—was a constant source of comfort and pride. Endlessly warm and loving, Bobby’s true home was simply wherever his family gathered.
He was an inspiration, a teacher, and a guiding light to so many. He showed us the meaning of hard work, kindness, and choosing happiness no matter the circumstances. The comfort of a true friend was always found on the shoulder of Bobby Bridges. With his patient listening ears, he was available to anyone who needed it.
He is deeply missed and survived by his loving children: daughter Janet (Jimmie) Greene; daughter Susan (Warren) Winters; daughter Deborah Ann Mullinex; son Robert David (Christy) Bridges; and daughter Bobbie Walker (John Adams). He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Lightsey. Bobby’s boundless love and wisdom will live on in his 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him endless pride. His legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the lessons he shared, and the love he gave so freely.
Bobby was preceded in death by his high school sweetheart and mother of his children, Betty Jo Brogdon Bridges, his parents, Crum and Dollie Mae; his siblings, Myrtle, Mary, Huet, Crum Jr., Jack, Betty, Peggy Joyce, Janice, Freddy Gene; his beloved son-in-law, Chuck Mullinex; and his grandson, John Mullinex.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 15th at 2:00 PM at the Greenlawn Cemetery, 16 S. College St., Lakeland, GA 31635.
