Brett Rafter

November 3, 1997 — March 14, 2025

Brett Rafter, 27, of Lake Park, Georgia, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025, at his residence. He was born on November 3, 1997, to Edward “Eddie” Rafter II and Ellen Vickery Rafter in Valdosta, Georgia. Brett had a deep passion for playing golf, always hitting the course with enthusiasm and a competitive spirit. He had a natural sense of humor, a magnetic personality, and was known for being both outgoing and hardworking. Brett’s kindness and generosity knew no bounds—whether lending a hand to a friend or offering a listening ear, he was always there for those he cared about. Above all, he was a devoted father to his daughter Rae, creating a bond built on love, laughter, and countless memories. His relationship with his dad was something truly special—a connection rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and shared moments. Beyond golf, Brett had a love for poker, often gathering around the table for a friendly game, where his wit and strategic mind would shine. Whether on the green or at the poker table, Brett approached life with a rare combination of joy, dedication, and warmth that left a lasting impact on everyone around him. Brett shared an extraordinary bond with his mother, one that transcended the typical mother-son relationship. They were more than family; they were best friends. Brett could talk to her about absolutely anything, confiding in her with complete trust and comfort. Her unwavering support was a constant in his life, and it was clear that she not only loved him deeply but also truly enjoyed spending time with him. Whether it was sitting together for hours playing poker, or driving the golf cart around as she watched him on the course, she was always by his side. It wasn’t just about the activities; it was about the connection they shared in those moments. They were a true team, always there for each other, sharing laughter, competition, and deep conversations. Brett was incredibly kind and deeply sensitive, with a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that was truly one of a kind. No matter where life took them, Brett knew he could count on his mom to be his partner in everything, always bringing her warmth, encouragement, and companionship. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Edward Rafter I and Jeanette LaDieu; maternal grandparents: Jimmy Smith, Raymond Sellars, and Bernice Sellars.
