Of Valdosta, GA passed away on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in the Lakehaven Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born on April 24, 1924 in Old Hickory, TN to Monroe and Mattie Elrod Alcorn. He served in the United States Air Force and was a salesman for Gatewood Sales Company. He was a Baptist by faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and six brothers.
His survivors include,
Wife: Helen Smith Alcorn of Valdosta, GA;
3 Daughters: Gail & Jimmy Dudley of White, GA; Erika & Kent Parks of Plano, TX; Sylvia & Bert Crowe of Tifton, GA;
2 Sons: Gerald & Linda Alcorn of Jonesboro, GA; Tony Alcorn of Valdosta, GA;
7 Grandchildren; 8 Great Grandchildren;
Sister: Joyce Stephenson of Nashville, TN;
2 Sisters-in-Law: Jean Gates of Fort Pierce, FL; Naomi Overby of Duluth, GA;
And Numerous Nieces & Nephews
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, August 2, 2013 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial to follow in the Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday one hour prior to the service.
