Charles "Chuck" Earl Newton

August 29, 1939 — April 16, 2023

Charles “Chuck” Earl Newton -
83 of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Charles was battling cancer and the good Lord saw how he was struggling and decided to give him peace and called him home. He was born on August 29, 1939, in Dothan, Alabama, to the late Gethrel and Ruby (Bellflower) Newton. After graduating from high school, he served in the United States Navy for five years. Charles’ final career was as Finance Manager with General Motors Acceptance Corporation where he retired after 27 years. Charles was married to the love of his life, Jan, and on March 18th they celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Charles and Jan spent many years chaperoning for the Georgia Bridgemen Band of the Lowndes County High School where he drove the bus for the away ballgames, competitions, and parades. Charles was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church where he enjoyed sitting in the back of the church on the second row right in the middle. Most weeks, you could find him playing a round of golf on the Stone Creek Golf course where he was a charter member. He was a fierce golfer and loved the game. Charles was a people person and loved to talk to everyone he met. He could pull you in with those piercing blue eyes and his sweet, kind witty spirit.
