Charles “Charlie” Henry Walden, Jr. – 70
Of Lakeland, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at SGMC-Lanier Campus after a brief illness. Born on June 29, 1954, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Walden, Sr. and Edna Roye Allen Walden.
Charlie dedicated many years to the Lanier County Road Department, where he expertly operated a motor grader and lent a helping hand with various tasks. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was a devoted fan of NASCAR. Sundays were a cherished tradition for him, as he always looked forward to lunch at his mother’s house. He also made it a point never to miss “Chicken Nugget Wednesday” with his beloved grandson, Levi.
Above all, Charlie’s greatest joy came from his grandchildren and the time he spent with family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his son, Bucky Walden of Lakeland, Georgia; daughter, Katie Walden of Lakeland, Georgia; grandchildren: Levi Walden, Gage Phillips, Mason Walden and Addie Hernandez; mother, Edna Walden of Lakeland, Georgia; sisters: Cheryl Sheffield (Mike) of Lake Park, Georgia, Kim Parrish, Kay Walden and Karen Walden, all of Lakeland, Georgia; brother, Brandon Walden (Tabitha) of Griffin, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Good Hope Baptist Church with his nephew, Pastor Bryan Parrish officiating. The burial will follow in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the funeral home.
