Charles Jimmy "Jim" Carter, 54, of Valdosta, GA passed away Tuesday March 24, 2015 at his residence. He was born on November 10, 1960 to Charles Wendell and Mary Nell Pritchard. He graduated from Cook High in 1978 and attended VSU and graduated in 2001 with 2 Masters Degrees 1 in Science and the other in History. He was a History/Political Science Professor and worked at Darton College in Albany, GA. He was a very loyal church member, sang in the choir, loved fishing and the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include: Wife of 25 years, Gayla Carter, Valdosta, GA; Daughter, Amanda Herrin, Valdosta, GA; Grandson, Wade Herrin, Tifton, GA; Sister, Theresa Carter, Lenox, GA; Brother & Sister in Law, Tim Angela Carter, Ray City, GA; Step Dad, Jerry Barber, Lenox, GA; 2 Nieces, Ande Carter, Enigma, GA, Wendy Carter, Jacksonville, FL; 2 Nephews, Alex Carter, Enigma, GA, Shannon Wiley, Lenox, GA and a number of Aunts, Uncles and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday March 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Francis Lake Baptist Church with burial to follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service Saturday. Sympathy may be expressed online at
