Charles Curtis Pollard, Jr. 89, of Valdosta, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the Langdale Hospice House. Mr. Pollard was born in Flora, Illinois on March 26, 1926 to the late Charles C. and Evelue Louise Painter Pollard, Sr. Mr. Pollard served in the United States Army Air Corps with the Army Corps of Engineers in the Pacific Theatre. He also served in the Illinois National Guard during the disaster of 1948 in the tornado destruction of the town of Bunker Hill. During the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam Conflict he served as an advisor on waste and water treatment. Mr. Pollard was a member of the American Legion Post 13, Knights of Columbus, VFW and was also a volunteer fireman. Charlie is preceded in death by a son Curt Pollard, and a sister Amelia Pollard
Survivors include: Wife, Georgia Pollard, Valdosta, GA; Children: Amy & Jim Bramstedt, Fairview Heights, IL, Curt & Patty Pollard, Valdosta, GA, Mike & Susan Pollard, Highland, IL, Marie & Jerry Bramstedt, Kansas City, MO, Seven Grandchildren and nine Great Grandchildren; Sister, Martha Fox, Denver, CO, Brother, McKinley Pollard, Maryville, IL. and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00A.M. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the St. John's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
