Of Valdosta passed away early Sunday morning July 31, 2005 at his residence after a sudden illness. He was born February 12, 1925 in Nashville, GA to the late Henry and Doria Sheppard Mayer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII after his time in the service, he worked for and retired from the Civil Service after 50 years. Mr. Mayer was a member of Forrest Street Church of God, Azalea City Lodge # 716, American Legion Post # 13, and the Shriners. His wife, Agnes Mayer, son, Jerry Mayer, 3 brothers and 1 sister precedes him in death.

Survivors include:

Sons & daughters-in-law James & Caroline Sutton Nashville, GA
Harry & Jan Mayer Valdosta, GA
Tommy & Joan Mayer Valdosta, GA

9 grandchildren and a number of Great Grandchildren

Sister Myrtice Boyd Lakeland, Ga.


Funeral Services were held at 2:00 _P.M. Tuesday afternoon, August 2, 2005 at Forrest Street Church of God with burial following in Sunset Hill Cemetery where Masonic rites will be rendered.
