Clarence Earl Purvis “Pop” – 82
Of Quitman, GA passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born on June 15, 1937 in Mayo, FL to the late Arlie and Sally (Futch) Purvis. He was the owner of West Hill Bait and Tackle for many years. Mr. Clarence loved fishing and hunting but most enjoyed spending time with his beloved family. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Vurna Purvis, brother, James Purvis, 2 sisters, Lois Boyd and Mahaley Hiers
Survivors include: Wife, Margie C. Purvis of Tifton, GA; Daughter and Son-in-law Robin and Jim Barker of Dasher, GA; 2 Sons and Daughter-in-law, Robert Purvis (Betsy Bellflowers) of Valdosta, GA, Tommy and Tammy Purvis of Valdosta, GA; 6 Grandchildren: Jake Purvis (Jennifer), Josh Purvis, Lacie Elliott (Andy), Preston Barker, Brandon Barker, Katie Barker, Blake Bellflowers (Amy) & Brooke Bellflowers (Levi Sapp); 5 Great Grandchildren: Wylee, Daylyn, Jackson, Lily and Bradley; Sister, Thelma Curtis of Plant City, FL; Brother and Sister-in-law, Bo and Lit Purvis of Tifton, GA; Margie’s Children: Kenny Young (Susan) of Tifton, GA, Barry Young (Margaret) of Tifton, GA, Teresa Young of Tifton, GA, Jan Myers (Rodney) of Lenox, GA; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 8, 2020 in the Valdosta Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Hill Crest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday evening, February 7, 2020 at the funeral home. Sympathy may be expressed online at
