Clifton “Wesley” Studstill departed this life and went into eternal rest on October 18, 2023, at South Georgia Medical Center surrounded by his family. Wesley was 66 years old and lived in Lakeland, Georgia. He was born October 2, 1957, in Plant City, Florida to Gordon Laverne Studstill and Hilda (Nix) Studstill.
Wesley graduated from Lanier County High School in 1975. Following high school, Wesley served his country honorably in the U.S. Air Force. He served with distinction as an Administrative Specialist at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas from 1976 to 1982. He also attended Troy University where he received his Criminal Justice degree.
Following his military service, Wesley served the citizens of the State of Georgia as a probation officer and supervisor in the Cordele Judicial Circuit and the Alapaha Judicial Circuit for many years. He was also a parts manager at Five Points Toyota Dealership and worked at A&D Probation Services as a probation supervisor. He served on the Lanier County Board of Education for several years and also elected as Justice of the Peace.
Wesley was a passionate and avid (some would say even rabid) Georgia Bulldogs football fan. He was rarely seen without red and black clothing and a UGA hat or sweatshirt (or both) and never missed an opportunity to watch his Dawgs play football. When he wasn’t watching the Dawgs play, he was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the Braves play.
Wesley is survived by his son, Christopher Laverne Studstill of Lakeland, Georgia; his mother, Hilda (Nix) Studstill of Lakeland, a brother, Danny (Janet) Studstill of Nashville; sisters, Peggy Ann (Bob) Horansky, of Jackson, Georgia, and Tanga S. (James) Teasley of Gainesville, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Laverne Studstill, and his maternal grandparents, Clifton and Flora (Mathis) Nix of Nashville, and his paternal grandparents, Henry Gordon and Rebecca (Parrish) Studstill of Nashville, his granddaughter, Kyleigh Ann Studstill.
