CLYDE THOMAS CONINE-79
OF LAKELAND, GA. passed away early Monday, October 18, 2004 at his home after an extended illness. Mr. Conine was born in Clinch County on August 1, 1925. He grew up on a farm in Lanier County where he learned to love the land. He worked in farming and the timber industry most of his life. He served in the United States Army during World War 11.
Mr. Conine felt a special closeness to Arabia Primitive Baptist Church which attended as a young boy and into adulthood. He loved going to big meeting and family reunions at the church.
Mr. Conine is survived by his wife of fifty- nine years, Bernice Allen Conine . Also surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Cindy Conine of Kathleen, Georgia, Grant and Denice Conine of Lanier County and daughter, Nancy Conine of Lanier County. Other surviving family members include grandchildren Tammy, Lisa, Allen, and Kimberly Conine and Katelyn Kilpatrick, four great-grandchildren, his sister, Elsie Branch and sister-in-law, Ruth Conine as well as a large number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Conine was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas C. and Lucretia Tomlinson Conine, his brothers, James and Rufus Conine and his sister, Avie C. Lee, Lizzie Studstill and Thelma Sirmans.
Mr. Conine body will lie in state at his home in Lanier County. Family and friends are encouraged to visit the home at any time from Monday evening until time for the services.
Services for Mr. Conine will be held on Wednesday, October 20, at 3 P.M. at Arabia Primitive Baptist Church in Clinch County. The eulogy will be given by his long time friend, Judge Brooks Blitch. Brother Robert Skinner of Arabia Primitive Baptist Church will conduct the services. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
