Corliss Herndon Walker - 62
Of Lakeland passed away early Wednesday morning October 22, 2014 in South Ga Medical Center in Valdosta after a lengthy illness. She was born August 14, 1952 in Clinch County, GA to the late Corris H., Jr. and Margaret Lee Herndon. She was also preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. M. Chester Lee and Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Herndon, Sr. After graduation from Lanier County High School she trained with the H and R Block Accounting and served as office manager for the Block Company in Quitman and Waycross, GA, before coming to Lakeland to work with her mother at Herndon Accounting. Later she established her own accounting firm C.H. Walker Accounting and Tax Service. She grew up worshiping in the Lakeland United Methodist Church, later in her life she became active in the Lakeland Church of God along with her husband. Corliss quick smile and personality let everyone know that she loved life and people. Her home was always open to everyone that needed a place for short time or a long stay. She extended her hand and her heart to them. Jesus said" I was a stranger and you took me in", she practiced that Bible verse every day! So many of us have lost a friend and a loved one, she never closed her heart or her door to anyone

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday October 25, 2014 in the Lakeland Chapel of Music Funeral Services with burial in Unity Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening between 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com .
