Dana Phillip Bennett – 85
of Valdosta passed away Sunday, December 26, 2010 at the Heritage House Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 31, 1925 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Dana & Nannie Pope Bennett. He was a member of Central Avenue Church of Christ. Mr. Dana was honored to serve as a honorary auxiliary Georgia State Trooper. He retired from Crackin Good Bakery due to medical reasons after more than 38 years of service. When he retired he had not missed a single day of work. He also worked with Ryder Truck lines & Central Truck lines as a part-time truck driver. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Bennett.
Survivors Include: Wife of 63 years, Willie Marian Wisenbaker Bennett, Valdosta; 2 Daughters & Sons-in-law, Peggie & Tommy Allen, Valdosta, Lorri & Anthony Gaskins, Valdosta; 4 Grandchildren: Clint Allen Terrie, Derek Allen Jessica Ethridge, Cole Allen Rachel and Courtney Gaskins; 5 Great Grandchildren: Jarrett, Karsen, Dustin, Mallory, Kelsey and one great-grandchild on the way.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 27, 2010 in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation.
